Feedback please!
July 20th, 2009 by Jouke Visser

The ideas are taking shape. I have a fairly worked out plan on what this new “enabling platform”, as I like to think of it, should be all about. Partnerships are being worked out, and meanwhile I’m building prototypes.

Meanwhile, I’d like to ask the few readers that stumble upon this site to give their feedback. Not necessarily about pVoice, but also other AAC devices, switch enabled other pieces of software…what’s good, what’s bad, what kind of software do you need that’s not out there yet?

Please tell me your experiences. If I can, I’ll take your comments into account in what’s coming up next!

One suggestion: Have you considered creating something based on the Android OS? I bring this up because it already has lots of good text-to-speech functionality, and, in addition to the plethora of mobile phones, it will be coming out on lots of inexpensive tablets this year (one or two are available now for less than $200). A friend of mine was looking for something like your pVoice application that could be put on a tablet, but Windows-based tablets are just too expensive. He was actually thinking iPad, but I felt that Android would provide a better price point.

Just my 2c.

Is it possible to have the software so you can record what is said when the ‘card’ is pressed, saves the problems with some of the download links, also makes the unit very multilingual.
I have found when attempting to load it just loops and wont install. I hope to install something like this to an Industrial tablet PC (running POSREADY as the OS.gives an 8 hour life and is ‘throw proof’ also is nice bright colours and a fraction of the price of other ‘medical’units).

Hi,

Just curious, how much is this software dependent of the MS specific API? Has anyone tried to port it to Linux?

Thanks.
