Here is a link to a clean downloadable copy of MS Agent 2.0 that works.

http://download.cnet.com/Microsoft-Agent-Character-Editor/3000-2206_4-897540.html

I guess we need to burn off a copy for the day this link stops supporting the download.

Hope this helps

One suggestion: Have you considered creating something based on the Android OS? I bring this up because it already has lots of good text-to-speech functionality, and, in addition to the plethora of mobile phones, it will be coming out on lots of inexpensive tablets this year (one or two are available now for less than $200). A friend of mine was looking for something like your pVoice application that could be put on a tablet, but Windows-based tablets are just too expensive. He was actually thinking iPad, but I felt that Android would provide a better price point.

Just my 2c.

Hello:

first thanks to provide this sw as a freeware,i think this is a useful tool that can help a lot of people who really needs it
On my case I`m trying to setup the tool to allow my father to speak, he loss the voice with the age and I want to test if this can help

I customize the toel, really easy and cover what I need.
The problem is that I get a ms crash when I try to change the template and now I can't open the it, if I change the data 'dv' file it works -> could be there is a limit on the number of themes I can create? (probably I make I quite complex definition)
there is any way to recover the dv file so It can be opened? any way to get the source code to check if someone can helpme on that?

I can also provide the dv file if you send me an email, but in any case any indication will be apreciated

another question : there is any way to run that on linux ?

thanks in advance for your help

Hello:

First of all thanks to provide this SW to be used, is a nice tool and sure can help a lot of people
I tried to configure the tool to be used for my father that have loss his voice, as he is quite old and not used to computer work not I prefer to test with this tool previusly to decide if any other quite expensive solution can be suitable

I started to configure a template and works everything fine, I cover what I wanted to do with a tool of this kind. But once I have added a lot of new themes it crashes (a microsoft error
AppName: pvoice.exe AppVer: 0.0.0.0 ModName: perl58.dll
ModVer: 5.8.3.809 Offset: 00086920)

If I change the data file that I used to define the themes, by an empty one, applications works, so it seems the problem is generated by the data and not by the program

I undersntad that is not easy to now the reason of the problems with this few data (I can provide more if needed). I can restart to define, but additionally to some days of work to recover it, as I'm not sure of the reason of the error it could happen to me another time

Could be there is a limit on the number of themes or words that is possible to define? (I define quite a lot) and the crash has been produced just at the momment I'm saving a new theme (also the name of the theme have the character '_') -> if this could be the reason at least I know how to avoid that next time.

thanks very much for your help

Is it possible to have the software so you can record what is said when the 'card' is pressed, saves the problems with some of the download links, also makes the unit very multilingual.
I have found when attempting to load it just loops and wont install. I hope to install something like this to an Industrial tablet PC (running POSREADY as the OS.gives an 8 hour life and is 'throw proof' also is nice bright colours and a fraction of the price of other 'medical'units).

Hi,

Just curious, how much is this software dependent of the MS specific API? Has anyone tried to port it to Linux?

Thanks.
